Decision Starter consent and retention
DRAFT FOR REVIEW
This page is a working draft prepared for review. It is not final approved wording and it is not legal advice. The site is not published, and the final text will be confirmed before anything goes live.
What we collect
When you ask for the Decision Starter we collect your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it. Nothing else is required and nothing else is stored from that form.
Why we hold it
Your email address is used to send you the worksheet you asked for. That delivery is a direct response to your request and happens whether or not you tick the updates box.
We also record whether the send succeeded, so that a failed delivery can be retried and so we can answer you if you tell us it never arrived.
Marketing consent
The updates box is separate, optional and never pre-ticked. We only send updates to people who ticked it and who are still subscribed.
The current consent wording is version 2026-08-v1: “Email me occasional updates about University, Maybe? — new resources, talks and school editions. I can unsubscribe at any time.” We store the version and wording you agreed to alongside the date, so it stays possible to show exactly what you consented to.
Buying copies of the book is not a consent event. Placing a bulk order never adds anyone to the updates list.
Unsubscribing
Every update carries a one-click unsubscribe link. The link contains a signed token; we store only a one-way hash of that token, never the link itself. Using the same link more than once is safe and simply confirms you are unsubscribed.
How long we keep it
The intended position, subject to review: subscriber records are kept while the list is active and removed within a defined period after you unsubscribe, with a minimal suppression record retained so that you are not re-added by mistake.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact address in the footer.
